Colonel Thomas E. Wheeler is a lifelong native of Murfreesboro and Christiana where he attended twelve years of school. He also attended the University of Hawaii and Middle Tennessee State University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces Unit, serving from 1961 to 1965, leaving with an honorable discharge.
He has been married for 40+ years to Rita J. Wheeler.
His business experience extends 34 years as an owner/operator in the independent retail grocery business, and has been associated with Durham Realty and Auction Company for 20+ years as an auctioneer and realtor.
Mr. Wheeler is a past master of Mt. Moriah Lodge #18, York Rite and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason And Shriner, and a charter member of the Lascassas/Milton Lions Club where he served as president.
His interests have long been with MTSU, where he helps organize golf tournaments for the baseball team. His hobbies include golf , hunting, and fishing.
